Goals and Planning for 2025!
For the second semester of ceramics I want to focus more on refining my skills with hand-building via slabs to make vessels, and maybe try the wheel later in the semester. I also want to get better at sculpting and painting finely, and patiently. Additionally, I want to revisit sgraffito and try opalescent glazes more. My overall plan is to spend less time getting mad at small imperfections and let that kill my motivation and spend between 2-3 classes on each project. My main goal is to be able to produce more projects I feel really proud of (proud enough to gift) than projects that I am more displeased with.
For a few of the projects I already have some initial thoughts/ inspiration.
- For the Alebrijes I was thinking of doing a honeybee as the animal while painting it black and adding embellishments in vibrant colors.
- For the wall hanging piece I am thinking about doing a wall-mounted planted-type situation.
- For the Unit 5 choice project I am going to do a few candle holder/ light things that I tried last semester.
- For the whimsical house project I really want to create something doll house like but also colorful and vibrant.
- And The last idea I had was that for the organic shape project I would do a sea shell for a bowl/ dish.
